MOSCOW, Russia – Two aircraft sent by the Russian Emergencies Ministry to Belgium following a tourist bus crash in the West European country have landed in Brussels Airport, the ministry said Monday.

The ministry’s Yakovlev Yak-42 (Clobber) has already taken off back to Russia. It will bring home those Russians who sustained minor injuries or who were unhurt in the traffic accident.

An Ilyushin Il-76 (Candid), equipped with medical equipment and with doctors and psychologists aboard, will provide assistance to the injured.

Five people – three Russians and two Polish nationals – were killed and 19 injured Sunday as a Polish transport company’s bus carrying tourists from the southern Russian Volgograd Region – teenagers and adults accompanying them, in all about 40 people – crashed near Antwerp in northern Belgium.

Six people remain in Belgian hospitals.

Belgian media said the accident could have occurred due to the bus driver falling asleep or having a heart attack.
